Kieler Woche

Each year since 1959 the cultural festival and sailing competition Kieler Woche has invited a small selection of studios to propose that years visual identity and poster design. For the 2026 edition, Formal Settings were invited and provided two separate proposals. The first one takes inspiration in the various times of day and changes of moods at the festival, visualised through sun on water. The proposal received third place among 15 total proposals.
Second proposal
This proposal highlights the sailing aspect of the event and the colloquial name of the event, “KiWo”, with a bright sunny yellow as its focal point.
